If the Law is broken, the penalty is death. By death, we refer to separation from God. Certain parts of the Law of God demanded the loss of life, but this was carried out very rarely (Ex. 21:12-17). These capital crimes were:“murder,” “parental dishonor,” and “kidnapping.” Breaking the Sabbath also was punishable by death (Ex. 31:15), and there also were other capital crimes.
